Director Bobby Roth
Bobby Roth is an acclaimed writer, director, and producer whose career spans over four decades in film and television. A Los Angeles native, he studied literature and creative writing at UC Berkeley before earning a BA in Cinema from USC and an MFA in Motion Picture Production from UCLA. Roth has written, directed, and produced sixteen independent feature films, including Heartbreakers, The Man Inside, Jack the Dog, Berkeley, and Pearl, which have screened at major international festivals such as Berlin, Toronto, and Sundance. In television, he has directed more than 100 episodes of network series, including Lost, Prison Break, Grey’s Anatomy, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Mentalist, and Criminal Minds. A founding member of the Independent Feature Project and former Co-Chair of the Directors Guild of America’s Independent Feature Committee, Roth has also taught filmmaking around the world. Known for work grounded in emotional depth and moral complexity, he continues to create films that explore the human condition and the power of storytelling.
